Australian time zones
Three time zones, five with daylight saving, and Queensland that never changes. The time right now in every state and territory, when the clocks next go forward or back, and when to ring us from where you are.
Daylight saving ends in 171 days
Sunday 4 April (04/04/2027)
At 3:00am the clocks go back one hour to 2:00am in New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania. South Australia does the same at 3:00am its own time, and Lord Howe Island moves half an hour. Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia don’t change.
You get an extra hour that night. Phones change by themselves; check the ones that don’t: pump and irrigation timers, stock water and feeder timers, shed lights, the ute and tractor clocks, and any timed jobs on the computer. Stock keep to the sun, not the clock, so if you move milking or feeding times, many people do it a little at a time over a few days.

Times come from the international time zone database built into your phone or computer, so they stay right when the rules change. Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory have no daylight saving; New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia move their clocks forward on the first Sunday in October and back on the first Sunday in April. Public holidays differ between states: see public holidays by state before you ring on a long weekend.
