Doing it in Australia
Country community in Australia
The bush runs on volunteers and neighbours. A few long-standing ways to get involved near you.
Your local show
Agricultural shows bring the district together each year, from stud judging to the pavilion. Most rely on volunteers and welcome new members.
The fire brigade and SES
Rural fire services and the SES are mostly volunteers, and many brigades are short of members. Your state’s service is listed on our Be ready page.
Look out for each other
A hard season is easier with someone to talk to. Lifeline is on 13 11 14, any time. Our Farm help directory lists free support near you.
